He is survived by: his sons, Gerald Makela (Pam) of Raymond, MN and Charles Makela of Arden Hills, MN; and his grandsons, Tyler (Beth), Phillip (Courtney) and Andrew (Kimberly). He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren.
