We announce the death of Thomas Viland (Moorhead, Minnesota), who passed away on August 30, 2026, at the age of 70. Thomas will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. He was predeceased by: his parents, Viar Viland and Alma Viland; his sister Rebecca Viland; his uncle Arnold Viland; and his brother-in-law Dennis Howard.
He is survived by: his wife Susan (Ista); his children, Brook Spaulding (Kevin) of Fargo and Matthew Viland (Ashley) of Fargo; his grandchildren, Jordyn Lillehaug (Isaac), Addyson, Delaney, Zayne Spaulding, Mason Fowler, Thomas and Miley Viland; his great grandchildren, Emersyn of Fargo and Camryn Lillehaug of Fargo; and his siblings, David Viland (Donna) of Eden Prairie, Reuben Viland (Beth) of Fargo, Betty Hermunslie (Eldon), Ruth Howard of Hettinger, ND and Tim Viland (Evonne) of Wahpeton, ND. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, extended family members and dear friends.
Visitation was held on Thursday, September 3rd 2026 from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM and on Friday, September 4th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Calvary Church (2801 Village Green Blvd, Moorhead, MN 56560). A prayer was held on Thursday, September 3rd 2026 at 6:30 PM at the same location. A funeral service was held on Friday, September 4th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
