The family announces the passing of James Willard Eckman of Moose Lake, Minnesota on September 14, 2026. James, born on February 29, 1936, was part of many shared moments and relationships throughout life. He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Eckman and Eva Eckman; his siblings, Charles Eckman, Beverly Kuross, Phyllis and Francille Eckman; his brother-in-law Gary Mapes; his nephew Peter Kuross; his siblings-in-law, Vic and Carol Belanger; and his nephew Scott Belanger.
He is survived by: his wife Donna Eckman of Moose Lake; his daughters, Jackie Heying (Don) of Moose Lake, Jane Miller (Chris) of Nashville, TN and Jennifer Johnson (Jason) of Moose Lake; his grandchildren, Drew Heying (Janelle), Joseph Miller, Adele Miller, Jerome Miller, Owen Johnson and Evelyn Johnson; his great grandchildren, Ada, Holden, Emery, Conner and Natilynn; his sister Grace Mapes; and his sister-in-law Shirley Eckman. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and many close friends.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 17th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Moose Lake Covenant Church (700 5th St, Moose Lake, MN 55767).
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Fresenius Kidney Care of Cloquet, MN, American Legion Post 379 of Moose Lake, the Moose Lake Food Shelf, or the Hope Lutheran Church of Moose Lake Endowment Fund.
