He is survived by: his wife Dottie; his children, Jennifer Ernest (Dave) of Mora, Tracy Johnson (Dave) of Newport News, Virginia, Jeffery Schmidt of Villafranca de, Bierzo, Michael Hayes of Hilton Head Island and Thomas Hayes (Karen) of Richmond, Virginia.; and his siblings, Sandra Doody of Niles, Mary Kerpe (Rom) of Duluth, Minnesota and Jim (Happy) of Northbrook, Illinois.. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
