He was predeceased by: his parents, Clayton Merritt and Hazel Merritt (Harris); his brother Wayne Merritt; and his brother-in-law Harold Berndt. He is survived by: his wife Gladys Berndt; his children, Brian Merritt (Pam), Christine Bartelt (Doug), Dennis Merritt (Kate) and Randy Merritt (Lisa); his grandchildren, Cody Merritt (Keara), Megan Yule (Cody), Brooke Cooper (Alex), Paige Dimig (Ben), Clayton Merritt (Emma) and Amber Merritt; his great grandchildren, Brayden, Vivian Yule, Teagan and Zoey Cooper; his sister Janet Berndt; his sister-in-law Velma Merritt; and his siblings, Clayton Merritt, Jr. and Debbie Brown (Kyle). He is also survived by other relatives and friends.
