He is survived by: his wife Arlene Schmidt of Nerstrand; his sons, Danford Jr. (Mary Ann) of Carthage, IL and Jeff (Cathy); his daughter-in-law Shawn Schmidt of Spring Valley, MN; his brother Jim Schmidt (Barb) of Keswick, IA.; his siblings-in-law, Carol Berkland of Cape Coral, FL and Larry Block of Anoka, MN; his grandchildren, Holly, Nikolas, Nathan, Mikayla and Maddie; and his great grandchildren, Morgan, Rhyan, Noel, Harper, Chloe, Cassidy, Sophia and Myles.
