He was predeceased by: his parents, August Wessel and Mary Wessel (Austing); his children, Carol, Shirley and Lavonne "Bonnie"; his daughter-in-law Ladonna; the mother of his children Eleanor; and his siblings, Bertha Thiesen, Cyril, Valeria Wolter, Greg, Hildegard Primus, Norb, Bobby, Helen Jenc and Janette Derichs.
He is survived by: his children, Joe Wessel of Sauk Centre, Weezie Wessel of Sauk Rapids, Dar Jahnig (Scott) of Breckenridge, JoAnn Benoit (Rocky) of Sauk Rapids, Walter Wessel of Sauk Centre and Mary Wessel (Steve Barten) of Carlos; and his extended family Tina Valerius. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 30th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Thursday, July 31st 2025 from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, July 31st 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the St. Paul's Catholic Church (304 Sinclair Lewis Ave, Sauk Centre, MN 56378).
