He was predeceased by: his son Michael Nelson; his mother Marie Nelson (Odegard); his parents-in-law, Velma, Roland Sperger and Adolph Tabatt; his brothers, Richard Nelson (Arlene Kitzberger) and Ronald Nelson; his siblings-in-law, Ronald Tabatt, Ronald Nundahl, Ken Brandsma, Jim Fortier, David Sperger, Marvin Tabatt, Tommie Tabatt and Mary Sperger; his sister Karen Edison; his godmother Polly Ellanson; and his parent Odin Nelson.
He is survived by: his wife Darlene Nelson of New Ulm; his son David; his daughter-in-law Paraluman Patini "June"; his grandchildren, Cole Nelson of Florida, Brittany Nelson (Chris Atkinson) of Florida, Jaclyn Robels of California, Charlotte Carel of Manila and Cris Carel of Dubai; his great grandchildren, Lance Robles (Aira Abrielle Robels), Jeri Robles, Vash Carel and Drecko Carel; his siblings, Laverne Williams (Ernie) of Arizona and Wayne Nelson (Patty) of Hanska; his sisters-in-law, Sandy Nelson of Hanska and Marlys Sperger of Arizona; his grandchild Kim Nelson of Florida; his brothers-in-law, Clarence Tabatt of Georgia and Derald Tabatt of Washington; his aunt Bea Schwingler (Bob) of St. James; and his close friends, Diane Englin (Bruce) of Butterfield and Tammy Dotson. He is also survived by many other nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
