He was predeceased by: his godson Scott Hasse; and his parents, Donald Portner and Gladys Portner (Eckstein). He is survived by: his wife Rebecca Portner; his son Nick Portner (Bridget Whitney); his siblings, Kathy Hasse (Randy) and Kevin Portner (Linda); and his former wife Rebecca "Becky" Ruehling.
Visitation was held on Friday, May 23rd 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home – North Chapel (218 N Broadway St, New Ulm, MN 56073).
