He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Beranek and Adeline Beranek (Vetter); his stepmother Johanna Beranek; his daughter Terri Portner; his grandson Carter Brandes; his siblings, Carol Lieb, Edward, Gary and Linus Beranek; and his siblings-in-law, Kathy Bianchi and Allen Altmann.
He is survived by: his wife Shirleen Beranek of New Ulm; his children, Glenn Beranek (Darcy), Sue Brandes (Jeff), Bonnie Fortwengler (Aaron) and Vicky Hoffmann (Derek); his son-in-law Craig Portner; his grandchildren, Eric Beranek (Staci), Brandon Beranek (Jessie), Allison Beranek, Abigail Beranek, Austin Brandes (Ashley Streich), Kayla Verdoljak (Anthony), Kaden, Bryn Fortwengler, Madalyn, Jacob Hoffmann, Robyn Weikle (Kurt), Ryan Portner (Tori), Adam Portner (Kayla) and Alex Portner (Alexa Hazelton); his siblings, Annette Altmann, Robert F. Beranek and Hilary Bianchi; and his siblings-in-law, Mary Jane Beranek and Dick Lieb. He is also survived by great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 24th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Friday, July 25th 2025 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home North Chapel (218 N Broadway St, New Ulm, MN 56073). A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, July 25th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 11:45 AM at the St. George Catholic Church (63105 Fort Rd, New Ulm, MN 56073). A graveside service will be held on Friday, July 25th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 12:15 PM at the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery.
