She was predeceased by : her parents, William Macho and Katherine Macho (Braith); her husband Philip Roger Hertel of Hubert's Catholic Church; her granddaughter Jennifer Payne; her children-in-law, David Payne, Scott Hagen and Harriet Hertel; her siblings, Isidor Macho, Agnes Wilson, Wilhelmina Hoffman and Martha Wilkowski; and her siblings-in-law, Leonard Hoffman, Francis Wilkowski, Ed Opatz, Ted Ludovissie and Caroline Macho.

She is survived by : her children, Alvin Hertel of Bemidji, Roger Hertel (Dawn) of Fergus Falls, Jerome Hertel (Judy) of Moorhead, Annette Payne of Oak Grove, Glenda Hofland (Stephen) of New York Mills and Rosina Johnson (Kenny) of Ottertail; and her sister Caroline Opatz. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, & 1 great-great-grandchild.
