He was predeceased by: his grandfathers, Billy Jean Pointer and Richard Hughes; and his stepmother Angie Peulen. He is survived by: his parents, Sabrina Hughes (Pointer) and John Dixon; his stepfather Tom; his siblings, Chelsea (Allan), Shelby, Megan, Tad and Tate; his niece Annabeth; his nephews, Ethen and Colton; and his grandparents, Patricia, Dennis Gorecki, Mary Pointer and Phyllis Hughes.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to Northwoods Humane Society in honor of Derek to help all furry animals, big and small.
