He was predeceased by: his parents, Garrit Polinder and Helen Polinder (Starr); his wife Sally Moilanen; his children, Ranae and Larry; his son-in-law Richard Bork Sr.; his grandson Joshua Marthe; his brother-in-law Arnold Moilanen; his in-laws, Edward and Mayme Moilanen; and his siblings, Lyle, Paul, Fred, Pearl, Dorothy and Louise.

He is survived by: his children, Deborah Marthe (Donald) of Emerado, ND, Cecelia Sarvela (Rory) of Sturgeon Lake, MN, Edward (Bonnie) of Onamia and John Jr. (Annie) of Onamia; and his siblings, Trynie Hanson, Alice Polinder, Gary and Earl Polinder.
