It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Joseph Nayquonabe Sr. of Onamia, Minnesota, who passed away on May 21, 2025, at the age of 80, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his wife Rita Nayquonabe; his parents, Joe and Harriet; his children, Marcus, Nolan and Tammy; and his siblings, Elmer of Victor, AJ, Russell, Bonita, Loretta and Delilah.
He is survived by: his son Peter Nayquonabe (Shannon, family: Kayla Avery, Jayden, Jordan, Mackenzie, Alexander, Ayla); and his great grandchildren, Jessi Nayquonabe (family: Madison Conway, Carter, Kennedy, McKinley, Jeremy, Greyson), Joe Nayquonabe (Chris, family: Bella, Phoenix, Nolan Nayquonabe, William, Devin, Jasmine, Jalissa, Johanna Nayquonabe, Brooklynn, Asher, Jackson) and Stanley Nayquonabe (Jamie, family: Aiva, Mark, Emery, Stanley Jr., Isaiah). He is also survived by many loving relatives and friends.
Visitation was held on Saturday, May 24th 2025 at 7:00 PM and at 8:00 PM at the Miskwaanakwadookwe Community Center (18458 Minobimaadizi Lp, Onamia, MN 56359). A funeral service was held on Sunday, May 25th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
