He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald Winkelman and Velma Winkelman (Olson); his parents-in-law, Raymond and Roberta Mueller; and his siblings-in-law, Kenneth, Pat Mueller, Thomas, Ruth Mueller and DeWayne "Swede" Winkelman.
He is survived by: his wife Linda Winkelman of St. James, Minnesota; his children, Christa Winkelman (Ryan) of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Bryan Winkelman of Ormsby and Matt Winkelman (Jenika) of St. James, Minnesota; his grandchildren, Jack, Allie, Hank, Brody and Aubrey; his sister Karen Lieser (David) of Montevideo, Minnesota; and his sisters-in-law, JoAnn Hilgendorf (Robert) of Trimont, Mary Winkelman of Ormsby and Melanie Hunstad (Richard) of North Mankato, Minnesota. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
