He was predeceased by: his parents, Bert Hornstein and Ethel Hornstein (Yost); and his parents-in-law, Robert and Nella Kvatum. He is survived by: his wife Barbara Kvatum; his children, Shelly Blumhoefer (Scott) and Steven Hornstein (Tamie); his grandchildren, Andrew Blumhoefer (Haley), Hannah Blumhoefer (Michael Jacks, Jr.) and Isaac Blumhoefer; his brother-in-law Dennis Kvatum (Joan); and his nephew Richard Kvatum.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 29th 2026 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the Living Word Lutheran Church (101 Northridge Ave, Milbank, SD 57252). A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 29th 2026 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Living Word Lutheran Church or the Big Stone Area Healthcare Foundation.
