He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Serger and Inez Serger; and his siblings, Jerry, Jerome, Dale and Joann.

He is survived by: his sister Susan Shy (Courtney) of Detroit, MI; his nieces, Janice, Angela Shy and Christine Lee (Dalante); and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Jordan Dawson, Canden Johnson, Destiny, Trinity, Charity Lee and Affinity Johnson.
