Paul Matthys Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Paul Matthys (Osakis, Minnesota), who passed away on January 2, 2026 at the age of 55. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his grandparents, Emil, Mary Matthys, Jules and Elizabeth Gossen; his stepfather Ron Sutliff; his mother-in-law Carol Johnson of Osakis; and his brother-in-law Jermey Johnson.

He is survived by: his parents, Virgil Matthys of Montevideo and Judy Matthys (Gossen) of Montevideo; his wife Anne Matthys (Johnson); his daughters, Denelle Kirk (Andy Blonigen) of Alexandria and Libby Matthys of Osakis; his grandchildren, Ashton Kirk (Alaina Mitchell), Ian Kirk and Nya Sunder; and his siblings, Jeff Matthys (Mary) of Battle Lake, Renee Meland (Steve) of Watertown, Dean Matthys (Heather) of Montevideo, Don Sutliff of Maple Grove and Rhonda Sutliff of Fargo. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the family or the Salem Lutheran Church.
