He was predeceased by: his parents, Moses Bontrager and Mary Bontrager (Lehman); his wife Lillian Banach; his daughter Darlene; and his siblings, Sarah, Edna, Anna, Simon, Abe, Frances, Mattie and Amelia.
He is survived by: his brother Reuben Bontrager of Dazey; his children, Kathleen Harrison (Gerald) of Bartlett, TN, Jeffrey Bontrager (Kathi) of Grand Forks, ND, Charlene Esch (Jon) of Waseca, MN and Brian Bontrager of Wasilla, AK; and his grandchildren, Nikkia, Bagriella, Alison, Bryce, Jordan, Kyle, Jon Michael, Cindy, Alicia, Andrew, Krista, Jacob, Brandon, Colton and Shiann. He is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 26th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Christian Family Church (2300 Heritage Pl NW, Owatonna, MN 55060). A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 26th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the family.
