He was predeceased by: his parents, Merle Thomas and Etta Thomas (Erdman); his wife Ruth Olean Hillestad of Savior's Lutheran Church; his siblings, Ray (Dolly), Eugene (Lucille), Joyce Engle (LeRoy), Lorraine Stetler (Bill) and John; and his brother-in-law Lew Larson.
He is survived by: his children, Greg (Darlene) of Pequot Lakes, Curt of Minnetonka and Randi Dallmann (Steve) of Carrollton, TX; his grandchildren, Shauna Magedanz (Nathan), Molly Dallmann (Nick Bachelder), Maggie Dallmann (Adam Dorety), Lauren Ellison (Matt), Shelby Harveaux (Miller) and Marshall Thomas (Ashley); and his siblings, Lucille Larson and Chuck Thomas (Irene). He is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Friday, August 28th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Saturday, August 29th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A funeral service was held on Saturday, August 29th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Our Savior's Lutheran Church (1909 St Paul Rd, Owatonna, MN 55060).
Memorials are preferred to Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Owatonna Athletic Department, State School Orphanage Museum, or donor's choice.
