He was also cherished by the Twin Cities and his grandchildren.

“We were so sad to hear of Rodney's illness and being in hospice just two weeks ago when Ruthie died. Now we offer our sympathy for Rodney's death. I see he was 11 days older than me. We were, as you know, classmates at New Richland High School. He was a good reunion leader and a serious historian. Our last nice visit with him was at Pauline's 80th birthday party. Glad we have some good memories. May you be comforted with the memories you have of him and your family. Shirley and Vern S.”
