He was predeceased by: his parents, Harvey Gerdts and Anna Gerdts; his sisters, Carol and Ardene; his wife Judy Nelson; and his son Brian.
He is survived by: his siblings, Lorna, Gary, Elgin and Loren; his sons, Michael (Andrea) of Akeley, MN and David (Amy) of La Crosse, WI; his daughter-in-law Cara of Rochester, MN; and his grandchildren, Kaylee, Sonja, Cody, Dalton and Janelle.
