He was predeceased by: his parents, Marvin Nelson and Lucinda Nelson (Long); his wife Donna Nelson; his sister Bette Root; and his nephew Justin Root.
He is survived by: his friend Donna Mae Lewis; his children, Bruce (Nelson) and Sheila Nelson of Pine City; his nephew Jason Sauter (Piper) of Pine City; and his nieces, Amanda Root of Hinckley and Abby Williams (John) of Pine City. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.
