He was predeceased by: his parents, Gene Smetana and Ginny Smetana; his brother-in-law Blair Nelson; and his nephew Tyler Nelson. He is survived by: his wife Jill; his son Boden Smetana (Ashley Weidemann); his grandchildren, Wheeler, Walker, Wren Wiedemann and Gary; his sisters, Cheryl Smetana McHugh (Chris), Debbie Smetana and Deanne Nelson; his parents-in-law, Burt Rude and Rosie Rude; and his sister-in-law Wendy "Tinker" Pangerl (Greg).
