He was predeceased by : his mother Shirley Mertesdorf; his wife Gloria Woodcock; his sons, Adam and Eric; and his father-in-law Albert Woodcock.

He is survived by : his father Dean Mertesdorf of Mankato; his sisters, Cheryl Lushine of Minneapolis, Patricia Meyer (Daryl) of Mankato and Dara Stevens (Robert) of Vernon Center; his daughter-in-law Melissa Mertesdorf of Rochester; his grandsons, Breckin and Cullen Grinnell of Rochester; his mother-in-law Virginia Woodcock; his siblings-in-law, Leonard Woodcock (Patricia) of Rochester, Jerome Woodcock (Janean) of Lake Preston, SD, Jackie Sohre (Gary) of Mapleton, Brenda Wienk (Chuck) and Tersia Warne (Joel) of Lake Preston, SD; and his niece Mary Kay Hohenstein.

Visitation was held on Saturday, April 20th 2024 at 1:00 PM at the Grace United Methodist Church in Vernon Center (104 West St S, Vernon Center, MN 56090). A memorial service was held on Saturday, April 20th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Grace United Methodist Church (104 West St S, Vernon Center, MN 56090).
