With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Mary Steenstra of Pipestone, Minnesota, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on December 8, 2025 at the age of 93. She was predeceased by: her parents, Henry Sundem and Elise Sundem (Lien); her husband Floyd John Steenstra; her daughter Mary Schelhaas; her granddaughter Erica Steenstra; her siblings, Doris Dooyema (Dewey) and Harlowe Sundem (LaVane); and her sister-in-law Carol Sundem.
She is survived by: her children, Mike Steenstra of Holland, Charlie Steenstra (Deb) of Pipestone, Loren Steenstra (Colleen) of Jackson and Lori Curott of Princeton, Minnesota; her grandchildren, Jason Bush, Jeremy Bush, Jonathan Steenstra, Justin Steenstra, Kara March, Danny Steenstra, David Steenstra, Chase Schelhaas, Shaina Armstrong, Elise Polt, Spencer Steenstra, Sadie Steenstra, Cullen Curott and Lauren Curott; her son-in-law Arly Schelhaas; and her brothers, Richard Sundem of Sioux Falls and Orval Sundem (Bonnie) of Hills, Minnesota. She is also survived by 35 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Sunday, December 14th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM at the Hartquist Funeral Home - Pipestone Chapel (320 2nd Ave SW, Pipestone, MN 56164). A funeral service was held on Sunday, December 14th 2025 at 4:30 PM and on Monday, December 15th 2025 at 10:30 AM. A burial will be held on Monday, December 15th 2025 at the Holland Cemetery (1714 140th Ave, Holland, MN 56139).
