He was predeceased by: his father Donald Nelson; his stepfather Paul Nelson; and his sister Barbara. He is survived by: his mother Sharon Nelson (Mahoney) of Pipestone, Minnesota; his siblings, Joyce Peschon (Rollie) of Garretson and Jim Nelson (Tami) of Pipestone; and his nieces and nephews, Jessica Osburn, Heidi Norenberg, Donni Van Santen (Brad), Karla Budden and Emily Nelson.
