With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Helen M. Stay of Princeton, Minnesota, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on April 21, 2026 at the age of 93. She was predeceased by: her parents, Gust Olson and Ida Olson (Lahti); her husband Vernon Stay; her daughter Patty Smethers; her sister Marie Abramson (Albin); and her brothers-in-law, Chester Hopland, Walter Schimming and Bill Oakes.
She is survived by: her children, Sandy Gray (Garry) of Princeton, Sheila Swanson (Chad) of Alexandria and Sheldon Stay (Lisa) of Aitkin; her son-in-law Kelly Clark of Zimmerman; her grandchildren, Clinton Gray (Jodi), Darren Gray (Mary), Amanda Bowe (Andy), Jared Swanson (Jessica), Kaylene Riskey (Jeramie), Craig Swanson (Amy), Tyler Smethers (Gina), Blake Smethers, Wade Smethers (Katie), Grace Frikken (Dylan), Sam Stay (Alicia Schlenner) and Sally Paul (Mike); and her siblings, Donald Olson (Joanne), Ruth Hopland, Millie Schimming, Jeanette Oakes, Mabel Schultz (Floyd) and Judy Miller. She is also survived by 27 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson.
