He is survived by: his wife Darlene Vanderkooi; his children, David, Danelle (Pete Wildes) and Darren (Angela); his grandchildren, David Pickit (Jessica Janca), Ashley Towne (Peter), Carrissa Pickit (Anthony Klein), Blair Pickit (Zack Bertrand), Daniel Pickit (Paige Speltz), Hannah Rose Pickit (Michael Thompson), Evan Van Zinderen, Dee Van Zinderen, Brin Hua, Loren Pickit, Devin Wildes, Ava Wildes, Elias Pickit, Aidan Pickit (Kendra Schuster) and Austin Pickit; his great grandchildren, Edsel Iverson, Chance Farrell, Amos Friendshuh, Luke Towne, Briza Seaboy, Neko Seaboy and Birdie Klein; his sister Bonnie Zachman; his brother-in-law Richard Vanderkooi; and his nieces and nephews, Duane Zachman, Holly Zachman, Rick Vanderkooi, Heather Vanderkooi, Ross Vanderkooi and Jordyn Niemand.
A memorial gathering was held on Wednesday, October 14th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Lake Lutheran Church (3611 N Berens Rd NW, Prior Lake, MN 55379). A celebration of life was held on Wednesday, October 14th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A graveside service was held on Thursday, October 15th 2026 at 11:15 AM and from 11:30 AM to 11:45 AM at the Fort Snelling National Cemetery (7601 34th Ave S, Minneapolis, MN 55450).
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to American Diabetes Association, American Heart Association, any Veteran's Service organization, or the donor's choice.
