He was predeceased by: his parents, Merrill Kempfert and Caroline Kempfert (Seemann); his son Todd Kempfert; his father-in-law Erwin Johnson; and his brother-in-law Geoff Sundeen.
He is survived by: his wife Karla Johnson of Nisswa, MN; his siblings, Merrill Kempfert (Sharon) of Green Valley, AZ and Laurie Sundeen of Winsted, MN; his children, Scott Kempfert of Sturgeon Lake, MN and Amy Hansen (Ray) of Minnetonka, MN; his mother-in-law Arlene Johnson of Nisswa, MN; and his siblings-in-law, Jodi Milbradt (Michael) of Corcoran, MN and Jay Johnson of New York, NY. He is also survived by four grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and many cousins, nephews, nieces and friends.
