He was predeceased by: his parents, Marjorie DeValk and Cornelius "Swede" DeValk; his siblings, Carol Quire and Gary DeValk; his nephew John Bertelsen; and his great-niece Emily Lewandowski.
He is survived by: his children, Daniel (Tara), Raquel Gernat (Jerrod), Justin and Alayna DeValk (Luke Johnson); his grandchildren, Ethan, Avery, Matthew Gernat, Camryn Gernat and Jonathan Gernat; his sisters, Judy Lewandowski (Bill), Susan Bibeau (John) and Cheri Ayd (Gregg Fornell); and his sister-in-law Sheila DeValk. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives.
