Donna Mae Alms Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Donna Mae Alms of Red Wing, Minnesota, who passed away on November 17, 2025, at the age of 99, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Harold Swanson and Lillian Swanson (Benson); her former spouse Leverne "Big Ole" Johnson; her spouse Morrie Alms; her stepfather Arthur Nelson; her granddaughter Alyssa Johnson; her son-in-law Michael Johnson; and her brothers, Thomas Swanson (Marion) and Kenneth Swanson.

She is survived by: her children, Kathy Johnson, Dan Johnson (Jill), Diane Demers (Clarence) of Red Wing, MN and Keith Johnson (Renee) of Hager City, WI; her stepson Walt Alms (Sharon) of Austin, MN; her grandchildren, Chris "Vern" Johnson (Bri) of St. Paul, Nate Johnson of Red Wing, Jeni Grimm (Kevin) of Eagan, Lucas Johnson (Samantha) of River Falls, Shane Eckhoff (Crystal) of Goodhue, Cole Eckhoff (Mandy), Tanner Eckhoff of Red Wing, Brittany Symonds (Michael) of Prior Lake, Nick Alms (Kelly) of Plymouth and Sara Hall (Alex) of Sahuarita, AZ; her great grandchildren, Avi and Kroix Johnson; her grandchildren, Lily, Jack, Brooks Grimm, Lucy, Miles Johnson, Braeden, Carsen, Piper, Wesley Eckhoff, Addison, Mitchell Symonds, Oliver, Emma Alms, Kinsley and Beau Hall; her sisters, Sandra Anderson of Canby, OR, Bonita Thurner and Carole Rocha of Minneapolis, MN; and her siblings-in-law, Shirley Swanson of Walker, MN and Richard Scharpen (Elaine) of Red Wing, MN. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 2nd 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the First Covenant Church (2302 Twin Bluff Rd, Red Wing, MN 55066). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 2nd 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.

Memorials are preferred to Brighton Hospice, First Covenant Church, or the River Bluff Humane Society.
