He was predeceased by : his wife Bonita "Bonnie" Deden; and his siblings, John, Paul, Donald, Elizabeth Field, Joan Schultz, Norma McRae and Ida Goplin.

He is survived by : his children, Joseph McRae (Nancy) of Deephaven, Ann Gonsior (Bob) of Red Wing and Helen Yates of Tucson, Arizona; his grandchildren, Kenna, Ellen McRae, Olivia, Samuel, Wyatt Gonsior and Ryan Yates; and his sister Beatrice Bestul (Kurt). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, God-children, other family and many friends.

Memorials are preferred to the Parkinson Foundation.

“My sympathy to Jerry's family. I knew Jerry when I was young and lived just down the road in Burnside. I had a horse and rode with Jerry's niece Brenda McRae. When Jerry was going into active duty for the National Guard, he asked me to ride his 3 yr old Arab stallion, Roufer until he returned. It was an incredible experience to ride that truly exceptional horse and I was so honored that Jerry chose me to keep Roufer in shape. At 74, I’m still riding! Nancy Miller Pinke”
