He was predeceased by: his parents, William Roberts and Luella Roberts; and his siblings, William Roberts (Wanda), Gloria Sheldon (Dick) and Ethelyn Johnson (Bob).
He is survived by: his wife Jo; his children, James W. Roberts (Cindy), Pamela A. Rodriguez (Julio), Peggy M. Perschbacher (Russ), Christine E. Lokhorst (Mark) and Joseph W. Roberts (Aimee); his grandchildren, Justin Roberts, Jeremy Roberts (Marykaye), James Roberts, Rachel Bakke (Jordan), Brenna Stalsberg (Marcus), Johannah Lokhorst, Jay Lokhorst, Alexander Roberts (Ally) and Anthony Roberts; and his great grandchildren, Doxidium, Roarke, Sephra, Aabrekk Bakke, Nora Jo, Adalee and Carrie Stalsberg. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren, and many special dear friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Ronald McDonald House or Tunnels to Towers Foundation to help injured and homeless vets and first responders (T2T.org).
