“When I didn't receive a Christmas card from Joan this year, I became concerned and searched for her on Facebook. This site came up saying she has passed away. I'm so very sorry for your loss. Joan was principal at Maynard, MN when my husband Russ Hanson taught there in 1984-6. Oh what fun we had. She and Bruce were at our home many times and we visited them when she was living in Dover-Iota area. Each year I'd look forward to her Christmas letter - I even stopped in Rochester and had a wonderful -catching up lunch with her some years ago. She was such a lovely woman and I'm so glad she was my friend. Please know I will miss her letters. . .I hope she had a peaceful death. Peace and serenity be yours - her family. Hang onto the good memories for they are what get you through the sad days. My husband Russ passed away eleven years ago - I hope they reconnect in the afterlife. Carol Hanson”
