“John was my best friend for 60 years. We did almost everything together for the first 20 years. Alice and I were fortunate enough to be in the LA coliseum when he set the US record for throwing the Javelin. The reporter asked him how he learned to throw and he simply said "throwing rocks". I will certainly miss him as will all of us who new him along with his family.”
