He was predeceased by: his parents, Lester Alaspa and Ruth Alaspa (Sipola); his brothers, Guy and Chris; his mother-in-law Janet Ewing; and his pets, Lucy and Isabel.

He is survived by: his children, Curt and Kelly (Mike); his wife Caryl Ewing; his grandchildren, Connor and Cameron; his father-in-law Ray Ewing; his brothers-in-law, Gary (Cynthia) and David (Sarah); and his pet Baylie. He is also survived by aunts, uncles and cousins.

Lee donated his body to the Mayo Clinic Anatomical Bequest Program.
