Lester Neeb Obituary
Lester "Les" James Neeb, 72 of Rochester passed away peacefully at Cottagewood Senior Communities on June 12, 2021. Les was born on January 17, 1949 in Pasadena, CA to Gerald and Elaine (Hoffman) Neeb. At a young age, his family moved to Rochester. He attended Rochester Catholic schools up until his senior year in high school, when he graduated from John Marshall High School in 1967.
He then attended Minnesota State University at Mankato, playing hockey and graduating with a degree in education. Later, he finished his Masters degree in education at Winona. He began his teaching career at Kellogg Middle School, and ultimately retired from John Marshall High School, teaching History and Anthropology. On July 15, 1977 he married Sally Stevenson-Cogswell.
Les assistant-coached John Marshall Hockey, helping the team win their first-ever state championship. In his freetime, Les could be found fishing, hunting, and traveling with his family. He is survived by his wife Sally of Rochester, his children Trevor (Jodie) Cogswell of Kasson, Brian (Petrice) Cogswell of Rochester, his sister Kay Jacobson of Farmington, his niece Peggy (David) Pelletier of Farmington, and 4 grandchildren Evan, Olivia, Parker and Carter.
He is preceded in death by his parents. The memorial service for Les will be held on Thursday, June 17, 2021 at 11:00AM in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening, June 16, 2021 from 5:00pm until 7:00pm in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
His ashes will be interred at Oakwood Cemetery in Rochester at a later date.
