He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Peder Bjorngaard and Selma Bjorngaard (Veiseth); his wife Eileen Johnstone; his children, Michelle Sandeen (Steve), Susan Ecker (Dennis Klindworth) and David Bjorngaard (Sean Tryder); his granddaughters, Rachel Ecker, Lisa Ecker (Johnathan Mielke), Ann and Mary Sandeen; and his siblings, Arlene Ostermeier (Terry) and Pervin Bjorngaard (Lois).

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Parkinson's Foundation, Goodhue County Fair Board or United Redeemer Lutheran Church.
