He was predeceased by: his parents, Garland Byrnes and Mary Byrnes (Reddy); his former wife Barbara Jean Hundey; his siblings-in-law, Rick Oldham, LaVerne Hundley and Judy Byrnes; and his stepson Jeffery Ehler.
He is survived by: his wife Carol Wanderscheid Ehler of Rochester; his children, Michael Byrnes (Patricia) of Waterloo, Diane Cooper (Steve) of Mason City, Andrew Byrnes (Jessica Yount) of Waterloo, Susan Knapp (Jim) of Waterloo, Linda Anderson (Travis) of Waterloo and Jennifer Brustkern (Matthew); his stepchildren, Deborah Sproule (Gary), Barbara Martini (William), Diane Kuehn (Dennis), Carole Ehler and Robert Ehler; and his siblings, Elizabeth McMillan (Robert), Dennis Byrnes, Margaret Oldham, Roger Byrnes (Rita) and Edward Byrnes. He is also survived by numerous grand children and great grandchildren.
