Words of sympathy

Catherine Capellaro wrote a sympathy message

“Steve and I became close in college and moved to San Francisco at the same time. In October 1989 we experienced the Loma Prieta earthquake together, holding hands while the streets buckled and chunks of building rained down. As always, Steve's presence calmed me and made the experience stand out in my memory. We explored our new city together, and Steve was always able to draw stories out of even the most recalcitrant strangers. Steve taught me the word perspicacious. He made the world better.”
