He is survived by: his partner Dee Anderson of Rogers, Minnesota; his children, Cecil James Powell (Tracy) of Cedar Rapids, Robert "Rob" Powell (Diane Schoneman) of Marion, William Johnson (Melissa), Elizabeth Johnson and Rachael Johnson; his grandchildren, Alexis Powell, Jacki Lange, Clara Powell, Michael Powell, Matt and Bella Johnson; his great grandchildren, Bentley, Owen and Ashton; and his sisters, Louise Schonrock of Sioux City, Patty Hash of Missouri and Sonya Schwab of Cedar Rapids. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 9th 2026 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service (3855 Katz Dr, Marion, IA 52302). A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 9th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the same location. The military honors will be held on Friday, October 9th 2026 at the Mt. Clark Cemetery.
