He was predeceased by: his parents, Lawrence Olson and Mildred Olson (Nelson); his grandsons, Jake Johnson and Christian Johnson; his brother-in-law Russell Ringsak; his nephew Hans Ringsak; and his great-nephew Scott Radesic.
He is survived by: his wife Carol Starren; his children, Cheryl Miller (Scott) of Roseau, DeAnn Anderson (Ward) of Roseau, Lori Johnson (Barry) of Roseau, Brian Olson (Samantha) of Roseau and Brenda McMillin (Alex) of Roseau; and his grandchildren, Sam Miller, Julianna Poikonen (Tucker), Nick Anderson (Kindra Albers), Morgan Rhodes, Riley Johnson (Lydia), Lauren Johnson (Hanson O'leary), Jordan Olson (Brianna), Izaak Olson (Rachel Kendall), Josh Olson, Kelsie McMillin, Taylor McMillin (Cody Johnson), Anna Johnson (Gus) and Ray McMillin. He is also survived by eight great grandchildren.
As a result of contracting COVID and Alzheimer's disease, he moved to the nursing home in Hallock in December of 2023 and lived there until his passing.
