He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald L. McDonald and Charlotte McDonald (Schreiner); his wife Shirley Mae Wilson; his son Jerry; his grandsons, Justin McDonald and Donald'Donnie'McDonald; his sons-in-law, Bill Hoffbeck and Kevin Flaig; his brother Gerald; and his close friend Pat Bjornson.
He is survived by: his children, Michael McDonald, Patricia "Pam" McDonald, Thomas C. McDonald (Suzette), Linda Flaig and Candace Hoffbeck; and his grandchildren, Steven, Diana, Charlotte, Holly, Thomas II, Travis, Tanner, Turner, Mara, Cassie and Allie. He is also survived by 8 great-grandchildren; and other family and friends.
A memorial gathering was held on Monday, October 19th 2026 at 12:00 PM at the White Funeral Home (20134 Kenwood Trail, Lakeville, MN 55044). A memorial service was held on Monday, October 19th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the same location. The military honors will be held on Wednesday, November 18th 2026 at 1:45 PM at the Fort Snelling National Cemetery (7601 34th Ave S, Minneapolis, MN 55450).
