With sadness, we share the passing of James D. Guptill (Rush City, Minnesota). James, born on October 16, 1938 in Hinckley, Minnesota, passed away on September 16, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Alvin Guptill and Agnes Guptill; his siblings, Ethel Shober (John) and Wally Guptill (Donna); and his granddaughter Maria Smith.
He is survived by: his wife Pat Guptill of Rush City; his children, Joni Smith (Dan) of Pine City, Jim Guptill (Leandra) of Rush City and Jeanne Freer (Gary) of North Branch; his grandchildren, Tanner Konkler, Kyle Konkler, Brandon Guptill (Lindsay), Jamie Guptill, Josh Guptill, Danielle Smith (Andrea) and Andrea Harvieux (Devin); his great grandchildren, Abel, Bentley and Sawyer Harvieux; his sisters-in-law, Dianne Rabe (Alden) of Lakeville and Florence Lyseth of Hinckley; his brother Pete Carrigan of Ramsey; and his children, Brad and Gina Swanson. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation was held on Saturday, September 26th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church (1000 S Jay Ave, Rush City, MN 55069). A funeral service was held on Saturday, September 26th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
