He was predeceased by: his parents, Erlyn Johnson (Luella Johnson) and Luella Johnson; and his grandparents, Rudolph, Lilly Johnson, Ludvig and Ida Flattum.

He is survived by: his son Jed; his grandson Dalton; his brother Dean Johnson (Debbie) of Willmar; and his close friend Dianne Shaw-Cummins.
