He was predeceased by: his parents, Gilbert Winter and Dorothy Winter (Lieser); his wife LaVerne "Vernie" Schabel of Wendelin's Catholic Church; his daughter Kathleen "Katie" Gohman; and his siblings, Allen Winter, Virgil Winter, Mildred Albers, Janet Fruth and Marion Koshiol.
He is survived by: his children, Glenn (Lori) of Luxemburg, Joyce Schueller (Bill) of Fergus Falls and JoAnn Cossairt (Jeff) of St. Cloud; his son-in-law Steve Gohman (Sue) of Kimball; and his sister Pat Voigt of Clearwater. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the St. Augusta American Legion Post 621.
