He was predeceased by: his parents, Leonard Nelson and Jessie Didrikson Nelson (Belgum); his stepfather Edwin Belgum; and his brother Craig A. Nelson. He is survived by: his wife Ardis C. Nelson; his children, Kirsten Nelson Roenfeldt (Steven), Peter Becker Nelson (Jane) and Ellie Hallquist (Jeremy); his grandchildren, Axel, Else Roenfeldt, Liv, Cora Nelson, Weston and Clayton Hallquist; his siblings, Renae Keesbury (George), Leonard Nelson (Linda) and Denise Kalevik (Greg); and his nephew Jeremy Kalevik. He is also survived by three sisters-in-law and eleven beloved nieces and nephews.
Mark donated his own body to Alzheimer's and dementia research at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester.
