She was predeceased by: her husband Dr. Nestor Martinez; her parents, Pearl Walker Scherer and Edward James Scherer; and her siblings, William Kouts, Janette Scherer Selig and Joseph Scherer.
She is survived by: her daughters, Maria Slayman (Terry), Patricia Martinez and Alicia Martinez (Jon Sharrett); her grandchildren, Tyler Slayman (Brooke), Amelia Martinez and Julie Upton (Adam); her brother Damien Scherer (Pauline); and her pet Yogi. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren.
