He was predeceased by: his parents, Bendik Severson and Bertha Severson (Roseland); his wife Deloris Severson; and his grandson Michael Backus. He is survived by: his children, Debra Backus (Dennis) of St. Cloud, MN and Doug Severson (Carol) of Sartell, MN; his grandchildren, Tracy Backus, Gordon Severson (Ashley), Patrick Severson and Natalie Ross (Kyle); his great grandchildren, Elijah, Finley, Layla, Fallon, Eden and Faya; and his brother Kenneth Severson of Burlington, VT..

In lieu of flowers, the family requests any memorial contributions be made to Munsinger Clemens Botanical Society or the Salem Lutheran Foundation.
